Hey I am blogging again OMG!

ust felt like blogging today.  It has been a while hey.

Well I guess what has woken me up and got me excited again is the invite from DJ Ravenwolf on one of his time slots he is DJing on Hard Rock Radio Live for all of us Aussie Queen Fans to tune into his show.  I just feel so lucky with this invitation as Hard Rock Radio Live is really out there with the underground music movement on the internet.  They also have a tv section to their station.  So this is a pretty large and is really moving in a direction I love.  Only trouble for me when I first bumped into this organisation is that they only handled Heavy Metal.  I befriended DJ Ravenwolf and over time he started to play me one Queen track for me during his shows when I tuned in and he knew I was listening.  So for him to approach me now and have this invitation open to all Queen fans is pretty bloody amazing - thing was I have not seen him for ages as I have not been online much since we did the Freddie Mercury Radio show with FM2000.  This one just fell into our lap and to have the invite for us and therefore Queen music to come into this heavy metal scene - I think we are bloody lucky.

In case you missed the addy in the public section of the forum - this is what is going down for us with DJ Ravenwolf and my post about it.

I tuned in to hardrock radio live for my friends show DJ Ravenwolf's show.  He played Queen at the start of the show for me and closed the show with a heap of Queen tracks - he was saying on air how much Aussies love Queen down under - and was talking about us Queen fans down here.  It was so good to be in that area again - it has been a while since I have wanted to be in the zone for Queen music.  Anyway good news is Tues - 5pm - 7pm Melb est time

DJ Ravenwolf has welcomed us Aussie Queen fans to tune into his show - he said you can request any song you like as long as he has it and we don't request 2 hours of Queen music.  He said you can send him messages about Queen or anything you want and he will read it out on air for you.  This is awesome - this will mean we will have a regular radio station that we can tune into and they will look after us on a regular basis.  Considering it is a Heavy metal station - for us to get this much Queen going and the invite to come and be a part of the show - and us mean all of you - it is a pretty big thing in my books.  Gosh I was lucky to get DJ Ravenwolf to play one Queen track back in the early days.

Ok I hope I hear from you either on this post or via email about this or you can email Greg (DJ Ravenwolf) - note Hard Rock Radio Live is based in USA but is broadcast via net.  Greg has a hot show he loves to play ACDC, KISS or older heavy metal.  He has a big listening audience because of the music he plays so this is a very generous invite to us all down under.

Ok here is the radio stations site details to tune in online.

http://www.hardrockradiolive.com/

Add Greg if you are on yahoo messenger to request your Queen song.
his name for Yahoo is: djravenwolf
His email is:
djravenwolf@yahoo.com

Now if you are adding him to yahoo make sure you tell him you are a Queen fan from Aussie Queens or if you are a guest and want to join in on this just make sure you tell him you are a Queen fan so he knows where you are coming in from.

Now there are other dj's on all the time but we are with Greg on Tues night Oz 5- 7pm Melb est time.

If you want to email me about this go for it contact me on aussiequeens@hotmail.com

If you are in a Queen cover band this could be a good contact for you all.

In the studio today with FM2000 doing interviews

In the studio today with FM2000 doing last lot of interviews for the show
Current mood: bouncy
Category: Music

So today I had to get up at 5:30am to make sure I got down to the studio in time as it is a 2 hour trip - well really 2 and a half.

I made it just in time for the first interview - but we got an email at the last minute with a time that a VIP was able to be interviewed so we had to push all the rest back to get them covered.

I had a great time even though I was tired and still am actually (yes had a snooze this arvo but that just makes you jet lagged).

I took some goofy pics today once we finished all the hard work as both KJ and I were both pressed this week for many things to do with getting the final stuff together for the show. As soon as I get them off the digital camera I will post a couple up if you like - it was a great feeling to get these interviews done today - we missed out on one VIP but KJ will try and catch them at a later date.

Well we are running out of time now to fine tune it all and I have been sent back with a "to do list" and some things I thought were up to scratch are not recorded in the right levels for broadcasting so now they all have to be converted and so on - so that is a drag as it is mega time consuming getting this stuff converted etc - hopefully we can find the flac files and work off those - they are here somewhere.

Well the interviews that have been edited so far have past the test by KJ - so that is cool he is happy with our ends editing. I think he said he will mess around with levels and so on to get it just perfect for broadcasting but that is really fine fine tuning it. He is tinkering now with the concept of running some of the Queen instrumental music behind the interviews - I like the idea and it will help make it all have that extra magic feel to if for sure. Much of the instrumental stuff is real soul jerking stuff so it will enhance the mood and tone of the show for sure when it goes live.

I have been pretty anxious all week waiting for today's interviews to lock in. I have learnt from the petition until you get everything 100ocked in you never know what is going to fall through at the last minute. Not that I was actively seeking these interviews out - but by pure luck they happened - almost a twist of fate or lucky card feel my way this week without me even looking for it. I can't wait to tell you who the VIP is I think you will all be pretty surprised. Lovely people btw.

So to keep up with all the details for the show go to http://www.aussiequeens.com/freddie

Anyway to the people that helped today happen - thank you for all your help and the energy you brought to the show today. You were all amazing.

I can't wait for the live show - well I can and I can't as I have still a mountain of work to do for it.

I am about to shift desks tonight as I have had to upgrade the size of my desk for all the computing work I have on the go these days from a small corner computing desk to a massive L shaped coporate computing desk.

My Roger's Meadows site is badly neglected and the reason was due to just too pooped and terrible frustration with not having the desk space I need to spawl out the gear allowing me to whiz through getting the site updated . Not sure what happened to my traffic on RM this month but I guess it will come back if it went down. For once I could not do and do and do all at the same time and I could finally allow myself to just leave it if it was just too much work for the month.

I have spent a lot of my time off line also and this has been a great break for me as it has been none stop online on my end since we decided to start a petition and then all the rest that followed just took up all our spare time - maybe wearing too many hats who knows - just am glad to be back to semi normal with my online time and my real time in life so I actually do have a life again.

Reflections

Just a feeling of passion for Queen has flooded into my veins and heart today.  This is what I originally carried when I started this all off - the love of Queen I had.  As I got pushed and prodded on this quest it was hard for this pure love and admiration for this band I loved so much to remain untainted.

I don't really want to go into it too much apart from stating that it is back and the tainting that occurred from others has been cleansed away.  It is a wonderful feeling to feel this again

Life, the universe and everything

Well time has passed and many challenges with it since I last blogged up in here.

hmm I have had a massive self journey since I last blogged.  Many learning curves have occurred and some not so easy to learn from but none the less all important in helping me get better for the next stages of our campaign.

As one door may close new ones have opened and these doors are a breath of fresh air and they are opening them to me for the right reasons - not for their own selfish gain.  It will be interesting to see what I can create with these opportunities that are now crossing my path - rather exciting for me I think.  With the freedom from certain agitators I find myself for the first time since they got involved with me I am now able to move forward again instead of always getting dragged down by them and thier own selfish agenda's.  They have served their purpose with me and I have served mine with them.  It is time to move on and take what I and Icarus Falls have created into new heights.

Our vision is getting clearer every day and there are some great ideas getting tossed around right now for the Aussie Queens OZ and NZ Queen Fan club and also for the fan site.  I think I am finally starting to look back on what I have here instead of only looking forward.  Through some time out this month, I have gotten to find my place in this again and am comfortable in the shoes I am now walking in.  I know this - my work to get Queen down under is far from finished I still have heaps more to do to make this all happen - and I will keep on pursuing this until I hear an official "no" from Queen management.  I accept the pluses and the minuses of the campaign and all those that may not have been working in the same direction as me or the faction of the fan base that was behind me and next to me in this Quest.  It is kind of a nice feeling to come to this point on my Quest as I have a feeling of self growth and calmness - something I have not felt for some time in this journey as there were always hurdles put in front of me to keep on jumping over.  I think the most important thing I have realised in this is that as I jumped the last hurdle for what I thought was the final hurdle in this game it was not.  I was also happy to have the fans that supported me on this Quest jump over what I thought was tthe final hurdle with me.  After some free time to mill around and sort out what next - I have finally found the next doorway I must get through to secure this tour here.  I am sure I have been through the hardest part of the Quest and I look forward to some of the exciting things that are happening in the next doorway I have just entered.  Yes this time no back doors for me this stuff is front doors and those opening them for me now are those that have watched me from afar and saw my struggles out there and have come in now at the 3/4 mark to join me for discussions at my own table not anyone else’s.  I am grateful that these people have watched my journey and are impressed and are not laying down the law.  They are aware of my hardships and challenges out there and the next stage I am about to embark on and how I see it is that this is meant to be in a way - almost as if it was fate that our paths have crossed.  It can only be great news for Queen and the Aussie Queens fan club members and for me too.

Seeing a life coach at this point in time is also a blessing in disguise - as I won these life coaching sessions with Margaret at the AQ last meetup.  I did not know what life coaching was about and thought it was a lame first prize - but I was quiet wrong with my assumptions and my sessions with Margaret has totally injected some really positive things into this quest.  In some way it has helped me over come the negative experiences I went through on this quest that were not easy for me to accept that people could be like this - I feel that I am ready to reach my full potential and get the end result that we all want - Queen down under.

It is nice to know that on this quest that the hard challenges were necessary in order for me to reach this point of self growth - without them I do not think I would be as well equipped as I am now to finish this quest off.  Somehow I have the feeling I will be on this quest for some time still - but I am making changes out there and all for the good of Queen and the fans that are following me or have joined me on this quest.  If anything no matter what happens the greatest gift Queen ever gave me was this opportunity for me to find new aspects and strength to myself - I am sure they will never realise it but it is a gift I appreciate and hold close to my heart.

I must tell you all it saddened me today when I came across a certain post out there in from a small faction of Queen fan base where much attacking and defaming was going on towards Jim Beach, Roger Taylor, Brian May and even John Deacon.  It amazes me how there are people out there in the Queen circles that can manipulate the fan base for their own selfish gain and then step away after instigating such mood towards Bri, Rog, John and Jim leaving these guys to cop the heat.  Just goes to show that even within Bands not all that surrounds them is there for the benefit of the name of neither Queen nor the band members.  Well I have seen this before and I am sure that their true colours will show sooner or later.  Just bad luck that many innocent people are getting sucked in by their candy coated words.  Well this one is not my battle to fight but I am watching and all I can tell the fan base out there – is: think before you leap or you may be leaping into the fire.

Well got to get a move on I have a newsletter to put out.

Queen And Paul Rodgers latest news

Latest Tour comment for the future By Brian May

Looks like the guys are taking a break to pursue some individual events and there is some chatter that South America is next to be toured - even mentioned by Brian May on Brian May's Soap Box

quote from Bri that I was told about:

Paul Rodgers is doing a solo tour

Check here for the dates and locations of the tour - solo tour is offically announced.

Brian: "We did Europe already, South America is calling and we could probably do football stadiums in South America, but it's not career building, we just do it because we want to do it and we ain't dead yet."

For my friends at Aussie Queens....Lamo

It's 7:45 pm, and I'm walking through the bowels of the underground of Toronto, on my way to the Air Canada Centre
with Rene, my longtime Queen buddy. He's a fan than basically lost interest after " The Game ", and loves the same period of music
that I do, which is records 1-7...My thanks to him again and again for being such a great friend !

Anyways, we are at the turnstiles, he's  ahead of me and gets searched, and I am nervously behind him, digital camera in my
pocket. Its my turn, I open my jacket and they let me in , no search.... " BONUS !!!" I'm thinking, I may get some shots for my
AQ friends !!!

We walk through the door and I ask the attendant, " is there an opening act" she says no, just Queen. Another bonus.
The area is 3/4 packed, the roadies are playing some sort of country-fied twangy version of Queen music, sounds stupid actually, weird.
Down the long flights of stairs, to the floor area, walking, looking at rows written in chalk on the  floor, 50, 49, 48...etc...where are these???
Sure enough, I get to row 19 centre and I am 2 flippin' rows from the catwalk, almost dead centre....OMG !!!!! I am so excited !!!!

The curtain is black, screens on either side of the stage show the Queen "burning bird" logo, and I'm ready for my first ever
Queen show ( with PR of course).  It's 8:07 and there's a muffled wail of Bri's guitar, and the true fans hear it and scream...wow.
It's almost showtime..

Lights go off, and you hear Paul " Lately I've been hard to reach" ...he finishes his bit and the curtain is still up...and guess who comes
comes out first, while playing the intro to TYMD....Bri ! He comes out from behind the curtain and the crowd goes nuts !!!
Roger plays his bit, the curtain drops and we're off to the Races ! ( ..had to add that, as Races is my fav record).

Paul's in a two piece white outfit and red muscle shirt, he walks down the calwalk, squinty eyes and all. The man is fit and certainly looks
good for his age ( you win Karen). As he's walking along,he's looking at the crowd and doing the rockstar thing...looking for a female someone
to be the target of his crooning. He finds her, a middle aged blonde, 4 rows ahead of me, left of the catwalk, husband in tow. ( more later on her)

Brian is in a two piece white outfit with a very detailed dragonlike like pattern on the bottom of the pantlegs. he has Adidas sneakers
that look comfy for those long nights of standing and playing. He is wearing a smile that shows his personality and you can see that this
man is doing what he was destined to do, which is entertain people. His guitar is more brown looking than red, and the black part of the guitar
has visible " scratches" on it, from years of rocking the world...His playing is flawless, with the familiar sounds ringing even truer in person...
just hearing him play was worth it !

Roger, is wearing a black shirt and black pants and sunglasses, definitely the
coolest looking member of the bunch... As I watch the screen to seen more of Roger, I noticed something very unique ...now, I'm not a drummer but I
can clearly see that he's playing the snare drum with his left hand holding the drumstick by the thin end, and the thick end of the stick is striking the drum...very neat.
Roger is pounding away, breaking a sweat already during " I want to break free"... Roger doesn't seem to miss a beat, the bass player watches him carefully, and Roger
is clearly moving the entire band along from song to song, in classic Roger fashion.

You can clearly hear Bri and Rog, but sometimes you could not hear Paul, as his voice was
muted by the instruments...Paul always makes sure you can hear his voice with his classic rock star endings, and he can really end a song well..kudos to him.

After " I want to break free" Paul and Brian get these clear looking guitars, Paul's had a dark "stripe" and Brian's has a red stripe. The guy behind me says
" they're gonna play Crazy Little Thing" and instead they tell us that this is their new song " Take Love". The song is good, sounds like a radio friendly rock-pop
type of song and I think to myself " this is the sound of new Queen" or what they would put out as a full record..My mind races, " would I buy that?" I don't know, so
I just keep listening.. Crazy Little Thing is next and the crowd gets into it..

Roger and Paul steps away, off for a break I guess, and the spotlight is on Brian. He walks to the end of the catwalk, 12 string guitar in hand,
sits on a stool and says " hello....this on is for Freddie"  He plays " Love of My Life" and the crowd sings along, you can hear every note he is playing,
and the man can really sing..OMG,this is what touched me the most that night, my eyes swelled up and I was "getting it".
Brian is so musically talented in every way. I looked at Rene and he was speechless too..
I was blown away during that song and I've vowed to never skip it again on the ROTC CD....Brian May, you are an amazing artist !!

Hammer to Fall starts with Bri and Paul together at the end of the catwalk on stools, Brian playing, Paul singing....
but we all know who gets that song rocking, don't we Isis.......Roger !!
The lights are on Roger, now all in white, no glasses, and he is just POUNDING the drums, to the point where you think " is he gonna break that snare?"
The guys play, and this to me is one of their best songs, as its a rockin' tune, Roger pounding away, Bri wailing, and Paul belting the words out...
clearly my favourite song of the night !!! Oh, did I forget to mention that Paul has changed into a new outfit ? The man changed 3 times that night, 4 diff
outfits altogether, all of them of high quality, very rock star style stuff, with muscle tops, (just for Karen).

Paul smiles and they play " FLM Love", and he looks at the blonde a bit while singing...he's at the end of the catwalk and he is really
into this song, which makes sense, as it is HIS song...and the crowd feels it. When he end the songs, " feel like making love to you" , he points at the
blonde, her heand out and he touches it. She's in heaven, and hubbby laughs it off..

Bri takes the mic and says " this is the place in the show where we try something new"....and we're all wondering, what now?
The bass line starts and we know where we're going....It's Under Pressure, and the amazing bass line would make any true fan want to look
for Deacon.....we all know he's not there, and the songs is moving along. Musically, the song is fine, but lyricallly, it was OK at best, with Paul doing Bowie's piece
and Brian doing Freddie's part in the middle and Paul doing the Freddie piece at the end. I won't say much more, other than they should avoid that song at alll costs
as it doesn't do either Bowie of Freddie justice....

The drum solo starts and Roger doesn't say anything, he just gets going, slowing taping each drum and then moving into his tribal pounding...wow !
I'm watching him on the big screen to my left as he is too far away for me to catch the details. His bass drum is lit up in yellow, then blue, then yellow again.
The rhythm guitar player adds the riffs while Roger is playing...man , he is drumming at a frantic pace, the sweat clearly on his forehead, a man possessed !
They get into " Love with my Car" and this is Rene's song, and he loves it. The crowd is cheering, we old Queen fans are eating this song up, with Roger,
the stud muffin singing his heart out. Its amazing !!!

Guitar solo....just like in the video, Brian starts out, walks to the catwalk, plays his heart out, leading us eventually to the rear of the stage, where he goes behind a curtain,
and then emerged again, pointing to a screen behind the drums with pictures of London and cars driving through the city, to eventually lead us to the top of a building..with his guitar going , going,
its unique Queen sound warming our hearts....what a musician !  The solo leads to Last Horizon, and I know what to do here....I'm thinking about Isis, IF, and all of my new Queen friends
across the world from me. I'm trying my best to get as many decent pics as I can, (and I annoyed some people with my arm reaching above with my camera) but the intent was
worth the effort, for my friends at Aussie Queens. I know how badly you want the band to come to your part of the world and you all deserve this. I wish you alll the best in your efforts !

Well, at the risk of boring you all, I will wrap this up as quickly as I can...

The remainder of the gig went as planned, well played songs, with what you would expect if you owned ROTC on CD or
DVD. Dragon Attack saw Paul emerge from under the stage playing a black piano that rose to be level with the stage. The rhythm player and bass player kept that song going.

The best moment...." Days of our Lives" ...the crowd roared with the black and white footage of Freddie, John, and the rest of the band sitting on the ground, with some
asian folks, assuming in Japan...the song was well done and Roger stepped away from the kit, walked up to the end of the catwalk, and I tried as best I could to get you some choice pics
Isis...the blue lights were on and Roger sang so beautifully...he went back to the stage, did the " when I look and I find,  Brian May" piece and walked back to the end of the catwalk again.
How can anyone not get teary eyed during this song?? I know the author did...we miss you Freddie, and we miss you too John, please come back to us.

Radio Gaga was fun...I thought of my 5 year old Jamie during that song...I'm teaching my her to sing it. She finds the lyrics fun !

The remainder of the gig went without a hitch....all was well in Toronto that night and I scratched off another thing on my lifelong to-do list.

Done !

Regards Lamo
