The Circus

You start the domain at the entrance to the circus. Walk backwards and you will see a health pack behind a tree which you should collect. Make your way towards the big top and turn left. You should now be heading in a clockwise direction around the circus. The first stall on the left is Magritte’s tent enter here.

Approach the table after Magritte prompts you to do so and listen to her version of events. After she asks you to choose you can interact with the marble hand, the ouija board, and the crystal ball holder. Note the crystal ball holder will elicit the response “the ball has been stolen”. This should be the first object you collect for Magritte.

Leave the tent and continue round in a clockwise direction. You will pass the wheel of fortune which if you pull the lever by it’s side will give a response. This response depends on the area of the wheel that stops under the pointer. Note you can only gain the death response if you place the death mask on the floor below the wheel.

Just past MonGolfier’s stall, which should be avoided at this stage, you will find Hesione’s tank. On approaching she will speak to you indicating her plight and requesting that you bring her aid. Slightly further on is Kazan whom will give you a variety of speeches every time you approach. She will also give you the crystal which is one of the incorrect weights for the cockroach stall. The other incorrect weight for the cockroach stall, the lead block, is found just behind Kazan at the rear of the organ grinder. Kazan is looking for an item so that she can gain entry to the big top.

Continue round the circus until you reach the archery stall. Collect the crossbow and then pick up the arrows, this will commence the game. Follow the order of the clown heads behind the targets and shoot all five arrows in this order. If you are successful you will be awarded the throwing balls which will appear on the desk. Note the star prize here is Atli the teddy bear. You can not win him by using the normal arrows. If at a later date you exhaust your supply of throwing balls you can return to the archery stall and repeat the process. There is an alley to the right of the archery stall which contains a health pack.

Further round the circus is Iron Man McGrue’s stall, enter here. To defeat McGrue you must strike him three times with a heavy blow. The best moves to do this with are the two flying kicks. If you fail to defeat McGrue he will strike you back. Prizes for wining are the death mask, the lyre, and the anvil. As stated earlier you can use the mask at the wheel of fortune. The anvil is a red herring. Take the lyre to Kazan and collect the gold bar.

Beyond McGrue’s stall is the cranium cracker stall. Enter here and standing on the white X selecting the throwing balls from your inventory. Each head must be struck twice with a throwing ball. You have twelve balls. Once these are exhausted the stall will reset. If all three heads are successfully dislodged the crystal ball will appear on the central podium. Collect this prize.

Leave the cranium cracker stall and enter the bearded cockroach stall. Place the gold block on the scale and after the cockroach has finished its transformation collect it’s husk.

Return to Magritte’s stall and give her the crystal ball. She will then give you a premonition and show you a video. She will also ask you to collect the remainder of her “treasures” which are held within the book of destiny.

Run round to Humungo the elephant’s stall and feed him the cockroach husk. Once he has raised his foot you will be able to collect the thorn sword. Arm yourself with this and attack Mr. MonGolfier. Once he has been defeated he will explode and you can collect the golden arrow used as a pointer on the metronome.

Take the golden arrow to the archery stall and use it where you previously collected the normal arrows. You will have won the grand prize on this stall; Atli the teddy bear, which you should collect. Take the bear to Iron Man McGrue. It is a symbol of his true strength. Once he has received it he will break his weights and you will receive part of them.

Go to the strong man stall next to McGrue and use the broken weights in front of the hammer block. The bell will ring and you will have won a fish. If you had used the hammer on the table the only prize you could have won would have been the poison chalice, which drains your health if you drink from it.

Take the fish to Hesione. Use it when standing in front of the glass barrier and Dubroc will throw it over the top into the water. Once Hesione has consumed the fish, she will throw out the power sign and instruct you to show it to her lover. Collect the power sign. If you have given Hesione the fish and Magritte the crystal ball the master clown will appear. He is carrying a riding crop which you require. To gain the riding crop you must defeat him.

Go to the merry-go-round and use the riding crop. Once the horses have stopped you will be able to collect the book of destiny from the central area of the stall. There is also a health pack just behind the merry-go-round which you can collect.

Take the book to Magritte and she will give you the box of rain instructing you to give it to Mr. Electro. She will also show you that having distracted the Ring Master, Kazan has gained entry to the big top using the lyre.

The box of rain is Electro’s power source. If you use it just in front of his arms he will reactivate and give you the third part of the Juggler key. Show the key to the Ring Master and he will allow you to enter the big top.


The Corn Circle

After the Ring Master’s speech you should go to each of the areas adjoining the central circle and collect the key lying on the floor. The four side circles each represent one of the four elements; water (Diver), earth (Fakir), air (Mad Hatter), and fire (Singed Man). Showing the power sign to Telamon the diver will give you an extra clue indicating that his element; water, is the first in the order.

Take the keys to the numbered slots in front of the iron maiden and place them in order. Unless you are lucky, or know the order, this first attempt will be a failure and the Ring Master will close the iron maiden lid a notch. Once this has occurred Kazan will give her cryptic clue indicating the order for the complete solution. The correct order of the keys is water, earth, air, and fire. If enough attempts to solve the puzzle fail then the Ring Master will close the iron maiden and the game will be over. After each incorrect attempt the element keys return to their starting position and must be recollected before another attempt can be made.

Once correctly solved the Ring Master will attack Dubroc. He must be defeated at this point. After his defeat the iron maiden will release Kazan and she will give Dubroc the final part of the Juggler key. Take the complete Juggler key to the key slot under the miniature Juggler in the area where you began the level. This will reactivate the Juggler and cause the Ring Master to morph into Death on Two Legs. Death will kill Kazan and then run through the open doors of the Juggler. Follow him and you will enter the Final domain.



Hints & Tips

• Interacting with the organ grinder will change the audio track in the circus.

• Avoid the balloons that inflate at the sides of the tent.

• Do not walk into the horses on the merry-go-round whilst they are moving as they will hit you for large amounts of energy.

• You can obtain information on items by showing them to Magritte and Kazan.

• Attacking the Ring Master in the circus area will only cause him to call the clowns.

• Don’t try to pick up the cockroach before you have solved the puzzle as it will squirt acid over you.

• Trying to extract the thorn sword from Humungo’s foot before gaining his trust will result in him kicking you.

• Attempting to give Humungo the incorrect item to gain his trust will result in him attacking you.

• MonGolfier can not be harmed by ordinary hand to hand combat.

• To defeat the Iron Man you have to hit him three times with a heavy blow, pay attention to his health bar.

• The trick to winning the throwing balls on the archery stall is to follow the order of the clown heads.

• Each head on the cranium crackers stall must be hit twice to knock it from it’s perch.

• You can only enter the big top once you have collected the third part of the Juggler key.

• In the corn circle listen carefully to Kazan’s first speech as it indicates the order which the keys must be placed in.

• For an extra clue to the key order in the corn circle show the power sign to Telamon the diver.

• Do not trust everything the corn field characters tell you.

• If you get the key order wrong a sufficient number of times the iron maiden will shut on Kazan, the Eye will have won, and all of the domains will be under his power.
