Greetings from Alicia
Hi, Im Alicia. Im 41, my sons are 18 and 20.
My brothers are older than me so ive been brought up with led Zepplin, Deep Purple and Queen. I didnt have a happy childhood, the only thing I had of my own was the LP Sheer Heart Attack, that someone was throwing out, so that was played so many times it was nearly worn out. When bo rap came out, wow, That was in my head 24/7. Queen and Freddie kept me company. As I got older, it never changed, so my sons now play it themselves.
Im disabled, so didnt dream of going into London on the underground to see We Will Rock You, till my best friend took me last year for my birthday in august. She didnt tell me where we was going, so I was in the London crowds, then she said we are here. I looked up, and there was Freddie! wow!
We were sat at the very back, so the stage was wwaayyy down there, and the cast very small. I had no idea what was going on, as I thought it was all about Queen. But the electric was there, and the music! That was it! When I got home, I joined the WWRY fan sites, took my son to the cast change in september and the week after for the new cast! Just the other week, I went to this years cast change, and saw both shows.
I cant wait to go again.
I tell you, WWRY has helped me mentally and physically.
And ive met lovely people in the UK and in oz.

Think thats it, ill go and get a coffee now phew!

Topic: Wow, what a day!
Posted: 21 September 2008 at 8:43pm

ooo where shall I start?
I got to the stage door with some lovely people who the cast know. We was chatting to them, had pictures and lots of kisses
Danielle was Meat, and Sarah French was scaramouche.
I got told on the cast change matinee, the cast had a laugh, well they did. Craig Ryder, as a teacher, had such big teeth in, he couldnt move his mouth!
When they took galileo after the interrogation, the police man asked Khoshoggi if he wanted him to take him to the Seven Seas of cod liver oil
Vic came on in a cavemans wig
Craig, who is the rebel Leader, came on in just underpants, Elton John glasses and his normal top, but all the Bohemians had changed wigs
ricardo who is Galileo and sarah hadnt been told about this so their faces when they came on! It was a picture!

In the break, we was chatting to Lucy Sinclair who is Meat, but badly ripped her knee open, so had to rest, but was going to be on in the evening. She showed us the pictures of her knee, georgie who I was with didnt want dinner for a while after

We went to the stage door after and chatted to them all again, we was spending the day with sarahs mum and friends, so lovely they were.

Topic: Matinee time
Posted: 12 October 2008 at 7:30pm

Yesterday I went all alone to the theatre, what a big girl I am. ahem, anyway

I was told Ricardo doesnt do the matinees, so I was very happy to see him on. I have noticed that each performance, he does it slightly different. When they hold up the microtranscievers, and he says 'whats the first word?' he shouted it last time, this time he whispered it. Just little things that keep it fresh. His vocal talents with his acting make him the best Gazza ive seen, and ive seen 4.

Sabrina who is Scara was on top form, but when she says 'state of the art microtranscievers' she forgot and said 'ermmm them' lol She works so well with ricardo I can see why they were both kept on.

Mazz who is KQ has been off ill all week, so was happy to see her just on fire! She makes the show, so many people go only if she is on.

Alex as khoshoggi. They work so well together, I wasnt suprised they were kept on. his singing is great, look gorgeous, and is a nice fella at the stage door.

Ian who is Brit, very good. Full of enthusiasm, worked well with his new partner

Rachael is Meat. She came 3rd in a reality talent show to find the new 'nancy' for 'Oliver'. Cameron Macintosh really liked her, so wasnt suprised that she has got a part in a london show.
She was a bit too gentle for my liking, and her solo, 'no-one but you' seemed to have been slowed down and went on forever.

Rebel leader. Dont know who plays him as its not in the programme, yes I did buy one lol Wasnt keen at all. His accent went from english, irish, welsh in the same sentence and wasnt easy to understand.

Garry Lake is Pop. Very good. Full of life. he was in the ensemble last year, covered Pop, Khoshoggi and Rebel leader, so a good step up for him.

It was strange seeing the swing and not recognising them all. I didnt get to scream their names lol

The band were on top form. The problem with not being on my 'normal side' is I wasnt there to try and grab a drumstick that gets thrown there each time. Ive just missed out on 2, but ill be more ruthless next time! I want one!

Signing out for this time, but I might just go back at some point lol

No pictures this time, ive got the one I want lol

Posted: 21 September 2008 at 8:46pm

For the evening, Sabrina was Scara, and lucy was meat.
This time, Vic was Brit again, I thought she'd said the wrong name at first.

This was serious and proper.

They were all fantastic. I must say I do prefer Sarah as Scara, such a shame shes fnished now.

After, we went to the stage door and said goodbye to them. I went to go, and Ricardo came and said goodbye and gave me 2 kisses
aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
****

it was only my 7th time ...

being with georgie and dawn, who they know really helped as they then came over to us.

The cast asked if I was going on monday with girls, as its the first day for some of them. I did say no, but ..... might see if any seats are free ....

scrap that, just looke
d in my diary, cant, so will go another time, maybe
****

The lady I was with has got a tattoo of Killer Queen on her arm!
She is 'the' Mazz Murray fan. Mazz came straight over to chat to us. Every time ive been there shes ran off as shes so shy. When shes singing, she waves to dawn

This is Dawns tattoo of Mazz Murray as Killer Queen

Id like you to meet Georgie and Dawn. Mazz Murray who is Killer Queens biggest fans.

These are the 2 ladies who I was was with for the 'double'. They are often seen in Starbucks, just in case Mazz comes in for a coffee. Its right by the stage door so all of the cast go in there. They only have eyes for one ...
I caught up with them for a quick interview ...

Ive started a WWRY London bit on the aussiequeens fansite.
I thought I could put a bit in about the 2 biggest fans of the show.

1. What started you going to see the show, when was that?
A. we started going in 2005, it was our friend Debs who kept raving about it

2. Who is your favourite member of the cast and why? Any others?
A. Erm let me think could it be Mazz or maybe Mazz its because she is such a lovely person as well as a good entertainer loved Jenna Lee James, Peter Johansson, Colin and Rachael Wooding, also loved of course Sarah French Ellis. Ricardo Afonso has really grown on us as well

3. How many times have you been?
A. Its near the 100 mark but i have not kept all the tickets so going by how many i got in my scrap book which is 80

4. Will you be going to any of the tour shows and why?
A. no probably not go to any tours, Mazz wont be there

5. you went to the shows like arundel castle. How did you find them?
A. all the shows we went to were brilliant but it would be because mazz was in them not sure if we would have gone if she was not in it

6. You had your wedding cake especially made ....
A. Well, it had to be ....

7. You, dawn and Debs had tattoos on your legs?
A.

8. anything you think the fans might like to know that I havent asked?
A. Only that mazz is the best and we love her lots. Its Dawn that has the tattoo of Mazz on her arm that you have seen.

love georgie and Dawn, with our favourite lady, Mazz in the middle

Well, what can I say? Just brilliant! We was in row 'b' on the end, but could see everything.

Ricardo Afonso as galileo .. just on top form as always. he really keeps the audience interested.

Sabrina as scara. Shes not as harsh now, she must have been listening to me but the last 2 times I must say she sometimes seems bored on stage, no electric there any more.

Garry Lake as Pop. hes really taken this role as his own and is the best one ive seen. His facial expressions alone show hes enjoying it.

Mazz Murray as KQ. Never less than perfect. Shes friends with Georgie and Dawn, so was smiling at us! We chatted to her afterwards, such a lovely lady.

Alex Bourne as khoshoggi. The two of them together, just brilliant.

Ian Carlyle as Brit. very good, works well with Rachel. It was funny when he jumped backwards to sit on the van and slipped off so had to jump again, Rachel was smiling, but they didnt miss a beat.

Rachel was a bit stronger this time, so getting into the role.

The supporting cast have found their feet now and are more syncronised.

Might I go again ... maybe .....

Just a few notes on tonight's performance. Quite a few understudies on tonight, which was fine as I love seeing others play the roles.

Rachel Tucker - Scara
Amanda Coutts - Meat
Jon Boydon - Khashoggi
Rakesh Boury - Rebel Leader

Also was totally great to see Georgia Barberi on tonight. Loveeee her GaGa girl with her accent. So cute.

A few thoughts on the understudies :

Rachel : A month in and she's already been given the chance to play Scara for a week. She is loving playing Scara and is having fun with the role. I just couldn't believe I was seeing someone whose only played that role after just a few times before last night. She was awesome, and has totally made the role her own.  She got a few lines wrong, but Ricardo just carried on.

Amanda : I love her as Meat. She really looks the part. Her voice is sensational, soooo good!, I would love to see her again, great talent.

Jon : He's really made the part his own and looked very comfortable. His voice suits the songs really really well and his chemistry with Mazz was really great, they bounced off each other. A kind of magic was very impressive.

Rakesh :I prefer Rakesh to Brian, as I feel Brian overdoes it a bit where as Rakesh is a bit more laid back in the role. Very funny.

A couple of bloopers tonight.

Someone was a bit keen with the cue button for the KQ entrance announcement, and it started whilst Khashoggi was talking to Scara. Luckily it stopped pretty quickly after it started. But then the cue was missed for when it was actually meant to start so it JUST ended before the cast started singing the first line to the song.

Mazz was late on the screens for the 'Who dares play live music etc' bit. So it went 'OH NO KILLER QUEEN JUST GOT MY EMAIL' *big thundery music* aaaaaaaand a leopard print background with no KQ. She quickly slid in with a little smirk on her face. It was very amusing.

Ricardo didnt come to the stage door, dispite me being the only person left with my camera in my hand, so 10.50pm, I went home

Great night out at the Dom.

Wow! What a night! I was disappointed when I heard that instead of the gorgeous Ricardo, I would be seeing the 2nd understudy, Matthew Mckenna. Its rare for one to go on.
he was great! Not a note or move out of place! I would go and see him again. Some of his friends were in by the sound of it, which boosted him. I met him at the stage door after. I got a hug. What a  nice man.

Sabrina was on form. I met her for the first time at the stage door, got a hug. She came up to me and said 'Your Alicia?' 'Yes I said' Im Jazz on a lot of forums, but she rememberd from a few pms. How niceBig%20smile We had a long chat.

Everyone else was on form, no change there then!

At the encore, when Mazz walked down, she mouthed happy birthday to Dawn, and as the curtain was going down, she did a funny dance

We chatted for ages in the rain after. I told her I was going into hospital, she gave me a hug
aawwwwwwww
I didnt get any pictures as it was pouring down, but many memories...

wow, that was quick! What a nice man

Hello
I hope you will still do this. Ive asked some of the WWRY fans to ask some questions, these are from Isis, the boss

Q If you could change anything in the show what would it be?
A. I would have "show must go on" in there somewhere!!

Q What was your first impression on reading the script?
A. First time i read the script it was in german....not what i expected, http://www.aussiequeens.com/forum/smileys/lol.gif. I love it, its just great fun

Q What was the first Queen song you remember hearing.
A. Don't stop me know i think it was, my mum loved queen tho, i have had the greatest hits since i was like 10.

Q has being involved in this production changed your perception of Queens music?
A. Funny one, you would generally think hearing queen so much after singing it for 3 hours every night would get to you but i still love having queen on, i even have it on in the gym before work. love it!

Q How much are Brian, Roger and Ben still involved with the production? Or does it really look after itself now?
A. Brian and Ben have been about every so often doing bits with us, Ben likes to do some rehearsals, but the production team and Rock You are fantastic and do a great job themselves
And my questions ...

Q What was it like getting on stage as Gallileo? Was it how you thought it would be?
A. Doing galileo was a dream come true, love it. So happy to be playing the part and getting to sing such awesome songs. Great fun playing with sabrina and had such a buzz with the audience and thank you for coming to see it

Q I heard some supporters in the audience, how different was it for you going from supporting cast to lead?
A. Well playing galileo for me is something i've wanted to do for years so it is just an honour to be able to do it, just being a part of this show is awesome

Q Have Ricardo and Jon been coaching you? How much practice have you had?
A. I have done most of my rehearsals with jon doing kashoggi so he is always there to give me a wee helping hand or if i have a few questions here or there. I've found myself chapping on ricardo's door just to check a few things too. They have been great and very supportive. My cover rehearsals where about 4 day a week for 4/5 weeks.

Note: Permission was granted by Matthew for the display of these photo's of himself to go along with his interview with Alicia for the AQ WWRY NZ site.

Topic: Wed 3rd Dec 08
Posted: 6th December at 7:35pmt of us, which is great.

Ricardo was on mmmm what can I say? Fantastic as ever, seemed a bit softer tonight, maybe because he was working with Rachel.

Rachel Tucker was on as Scara, as Sabrina is off for her birthday. Shes a lot softer than Sabrina, though still gets the point across. They have finally left her to speak in her native irish, as she really cant do accents. her scottish was not good. Her singing is great, and she knew all the lines, no mistakes this time.

Ian as Brit. very professional, knows his stuff. He works well with meat, though just lately, hes had many meats to work with due to all the illness about the cast. his singing is top form, and you can see he enjoys his job.

Lauren Adams as Meat. Rachel was Scara and Amanda Coutts who is the 1st understudy has pharyngitis, shes gutted she has missed her week on, but lauren, although shes got the cold bug herself, grabbed the chance of going on. Shes great! Every note she hit, noone but you, blew my socks off! She knew her lines and moves. Ill happily see her again.

Rakesh Boury was Rebel leader. Hes very good, better than Brian Mccann he was covering for. hes enthusiastic and looks/acts the part.

Garry Lake as Pop. hes brought the character to life. hes enthusiastic, mad, and interacts so well with the cast.

Mazz Murray as KQ and Alex Bourne as Khoshoggi. fantastic as always, what a team!

The ga gas and the dancers have now got into it and are looking good. Well done to them.

Its great now that we know some of the cast, that when they see us from the stage, they wave or smile at us while performing. Makes me feel very special.

At the stage door .... who did I see?

lauren Adams who was Meat. What a lovely lady! She said she was feeling ill and wasnt going to go in, but she got the call saying did she want to be Meat for the week, ermmm yes! So with an hours notice, she was there! We got hugs, and she will look out for me tonight. Ive spoken to her since, sooo nice!

Garry Lake. hes not well, but such a trooper. He gave us a cuddle and we had a chat for a while. You have seen the picture? So Jest End is on the 20th and 21st December.

Andrew is a 'ga ga' lovely fella, got a cuddle, of course

Mazz Murray. Her hands were full and dinner was waiting for her, but she still took time to have her picture taken, and to sign a photo for me aawwww. Shes not on tonight, so ill be seeing a different KQ for the first time.

Ricardo did not come out, again! So at 11pm I went home.

I love the show more and more, especially outside the show It really adds to it. Thank you to Georgie and Dawn who are great fun, and I cant wait to go with them again xxxx mmwwaahhhh

Topic: WWRY 7th anniversary with Brian May
Posted: 6th December at 7:35pm

The show started with 'Its a beautiful day' sung by Freddie. It seems they are doing this with 'special shows' now.

Garry Lake as Pop, hes just so good from start to finish.

Ricardo, due to his back, was fantastic as always, hes had an injection to get him through the night. After 'do the fandango' where he would jump against the van and slide onto his knees crutch first towards me, he just stayed on his feet, moonwalked, did robotics etc. On 'crazy thing called love' where he would pick Sabrina up, they danced, leaving that bit out. It gave the bohemians a chance to show what they could do though, dancing, the splits etc. he did his cycle breathe, which is sooo good, it lasted for nearly 30 seconds this time. Thats the first time ive seen him do that for ages.

Sabrina has a chest infection and only at the last minute did she decide she was going on. She didnt dissappoint, though her and Ricardo were shattered by the end.

Mazz and Al, what a team as KQ and Khoshoggi. kerry Ellis and Mig were in the box, so Mazz was pulling faces at kerry when she could. She was enjoying it, thats for sure.

The gagas and bohemians turned it up a notch and enjoyed every minute, showing what they could do.

The audience was on top form, joining in, and having a great time.

Im so glad I managed to get a ticket as I must say it was one of the best nights ive had there.
At the end they did 'show must go on'   wow!
